Luxembourg Business Centre Further Enhanced

Contern, March 10, 2005
Mr. Jeannot Krecké, Luxembourg Minister of the Economy, inaugurated an extension to the business centre at the DuPont Luxembourg site today. The building will double the office room available at the site and will enhance the site's business activities. The usable surface of the building totals 4000 square meters, including eight conference rooms with a total surface of 400 square meters.

"We are operating in a global and highly competitive environment", said Jan Bergmann, Works Director, DuPont Luxembourg. "Our European business centre in Luxembourg needs skilled multicultural teams that are able to speak our customers' language."

"DuPont is at a crucial moment of its development, facing strong global competition but also seeing tremendous growth potential. We are convinced that with focus on meeting customer needs and investing into newest technology, we will be able to meet our objectives.", said Mark Vergnano, Vice President and General Manager, DuPont Nonwovens. "As long as the site is continuously improving productivity and is able to be competitive with other sites around the world, Luxembourg is a prime location for DuPont Nonwovens to further invest." Mr. Vergnano also announced projects to increase the Tyvek® production capacity and to install new technology in Luxembourg, with substantial investment over the next 3 years.

The building was planned by Georges Lamesch of the Architecture company Arco and erected by the contractors Félix Giorgetti s.àr.l. and Karp-Kneip Constructions S.A.

The DuPont Luxembourg site is one of the largest investments of DuPont in Europe. It was founded in 1962 in the Contern and Hesperange communes close to Luxembourg City and its airport. It features major production facilities for polyester films, spunbonded nonwovens and technical polymers. It is also a European Business Centre for the DuPont Teijin Films, DuPont Nonwovens and DuPont Electronic Technologies. The site offers highly qualified employment to more than 1200 people of many different nationalities.

The site products include: Mylar®, Melinex® and Cronar® polyester films; Typar®, Xavan™, Plantex® and Zemdrain® spunbonded polypropylene; Tyvek® spunbonded polyethylene; Hytrel® thermoplastic elastomer.

The plant operates according to high standards in safety and health, with far less injuries than the industrial average. All site production units are certified ISO 9001. The site as a whole is certified according to the ISO 14001 environmental standard and is the only site in Luxembourg to be registered within the voluntary EMAS eco-management system. The site property covers an area of 104 hectares (257 acres), half of which is managed as a wildlife habitat accessible to the public.
